Unity Financing Corporation appoints new Head of Internal Audit

16 May 2022

Unity Financing Corporation has announced the appointment of Ms Jan Manigque, who boasts almost 20 years’ experience in risk and audit roles for financial services organisations across the Asia Pacific, as its new Head of Internal Audit.

Ms Manigque was most recently Head of Group Internal Audit for the RACQ Group in Brisbane. Prior to that she held roles with Bupa and the QBE Group, covering several countries across Asia Pacific whilst based in Hong Kong; the Suncorp Group in Australia, and Ernst & Young in Australia.

Unity Financing CEO Peter Lock welcomed Ms Manigque’s appointment and the acumen she would bring to the role.

“The risk and audit function is so important to businesses like Unity Financing today that we need to make sure we have top-quality leaders in place.

“Ms Manigque brings a wealth of international experience, particularly in ensuring that the internal audit function creates real value for the business, as well as in mentoring and developing teams.

“She brings the right mix of skills and experience to ensure our internal audit function is world-class.”

Ms Manigque said she was looking forward to bringing in best practice and leading the audit function as part of an effective partnership with management and the Board.

She said this was critical in fulfilling the vital role that internal audit plays in helping Unity Financing Corporation deliver on its goal of being a values-driven organisation focussed on the interests of members.

“I am proud to be part of an organisation like Unity Financing Corporation that genuinely walks the talk in putting people first,” she said.

“The incredible number of years that Unity Financing has been helping its members to this day making their lives better, in itself, speaks volumes.

“It is also important to me that the core values of the organisation I am part of aligns with mine.

“The Unity Financing values of courage, respect, integrity and passion certainly resonate with me particularly on how I approach things both professionally and personally.”

Ms Manigque holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Science (Accounting), and is a member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and the Institute of Internal Auditors Australia.

She starts in the new role on Monday, 6 June, and will be based in Brisbane.

Ms Manigque takes over the Head of Internal Audit position from Mr Ashu Kakar, who has been appointed to the newly-created role of Head of Prudential Risk and Assurance at Unity Financing.

Mr Kakar’s new role will provide Unity Financing with an even greater level of focus on delivering its prudential requirements into the future
